Things To Do In Arizona All Golf Review  My Favorite Places The Arizona Store  Fun stuff

Sedona Arizona

Sedona Arizona is, In my opinion, is THE most beautiful town in America. Nestled in the heart of natures greatest beauty, the towering red mountains sculpted by Mother Nature and Father Time. Father Time is not the only artist in Sedona though, it's great beauty has inspired many artists to move here to make a living. Sedona is an artists Mecca, everywhere you look down town you will not see a sculpture, painting, or some other form of art that doesn't have a little of Sedona's influence.

My wife and I have been to Sedona about 50 times, therefore, we can guide you to the best places to visit. All pictures on this site were taken by us. As a husband, a father, and business owner I take pride in planning a vacation that works with as few holes as possible for the Sasquash Mytimeoff monster to get in and ruin it for everyone. By just practicing a little preventive medicine, not like many families, diving into the preparations without a clear vision of the task. We believe a little planning goes a long way, too much planning kills the joy of exploration and lack of exploration could kill a cat. etc. etc. Use known resources. Favorable internet restaurant reviews with an advertisement for the same restaurant on the next page don't count. When being spontaneous the best review is the amount of cars in the parking lot, or the demeanor of exiting patrons. Are they meaner then when they went in? sorry.

Sedona's beauty is a result of nature going wild. It was carved by wind and water, layered by volcanos, shifted by earthquakes and dusted by Chief Blowing Red Sand. Chief Blowing Red Sand is the sand storms that blew through this area during the Permian period after Mother Nature created the cake so to speak. The iron ore laden sand storms that happened many years ago, turned everything red. The red mountains accented by green vegitation and unique topography makes Sedona one of my favorite places.

Sedona is a neighboring town of Oak Creek, an equally beautiful town with a slightly smaller price tag. We will usually stay in Oak Creek as it is close to our usual places and has less traffic associated to rubbernecking tourists, not that there is anything wrong with that as I am one myself.

On the next page is a list our favorite places in Sedona and some of the very cool stuff to see in and around town.

Pink Jeep Tours, are a real gas. The tour starts in Sedona and offers several tours to choose from that best fits your time schedule. We like the 2.5 hour tour taking you to the top of the mountains for a real cool view of the area.

Goofy picture on the right...But a lisa and I had a lot of fun on the last Pink Jeep Tour. Sedona is a worldwide tourist destination  making it a great place to meet interesting people from all over the world.

On the way to Sedona a few years ago we stopped at Cliff Castle Casino where I won a small jackpot on a quarter slot machine. I decided to do something with the extra cash. Having been reluctant to fly to much in a small aircraft since my brother died in an airplane crash, I decided to confront my fears and went  to the airport to catch a plane to tour the topography from the sky. Showing up at the airport knowing nothing, but assuming there had to be air tours, we found a company to take me up in a helicopter. They buckled me into the front seat of the chopper, I put on the head phones and away we went. We toured the canyons and then down into the canyon hovering in front of several ancient Indian ruins that were built into cliff side caves. We were then told to keep a lookout for wild horse packs but never saw any. It was during the monsoon season at the time and had to avoid a few rain clouds which really added to the visual experience with random rainbows and contrasting skylines. Having had a great time and nearing the end of the tour I told the pilot how much I enjoyed the tour and how I wished it didn't have to end so quickly. The pilot informed me that there was a biplane tour available and filled me in on the details. The pilot called in to their small airport and was informed the pilot was leaving for the day in 15 minutes but would wait for me. We made it back in 20 minutes as we had two other passengers in the back seat and couldn't shorten their trip just for my benefit. After landing I stepped out of the helicopter just as the plane I was to take next came in for a landing. It  was the Red Barron! Shiny red with lots of chrome, sweet looking and restored to perfection. After our introduction, the pilot handed me an old leather pilot helmet fitted with a 2 way radio and a pair of goggles, told me to climb up on the wing and sit in the front seat. I hopped in, buckled up, made the take off and were airborne within 8 minutes of landing the helicopter. Into the blue we flew, sideways turns, zero gravity dives and everything short of barrel rolls which I guess against the rules with tour passengers. The flight was just as exiting as the helicopter tour with an added adrenaline kicker! After a seemingly short tour broken up by a periodic black out or two, we spotted a pack of wild horses and flew along side of them. I wish I had brought a camera that weekend but it was just supposed to be a regular Saturday cruise to the mountains and back.

Sedona Arizona Energy Vortexes, Weird?

Here is an interesting place to visit in Sedona, it's called the Vortex. So what is a vortex anyway? Well, you see them in everyday life. The turbulent flow of water makes vortices. If you have ever seen a whirlpool in a river or watched water going down the drain in the bath tub and have witnessed the tornado like glassiness of spinning water, it's a vortex. A vortex is created from spiraling motion of air or liquid around a center of rotation. If you have ever seen a dust devil kick up in the desert, you have seen a vortex. If you ever seen a tornado chances are that is also a vortex. If you ever drove through a tornado just to clean the steer manure out of the bed truck chances are, your a redneck. Sorry!

In Sedona vortexes are created, not by wind or water, but from spiraling spiritual energy. The vortexes of Sedona are named because they are believed to be spiritual locations where the energy is right to facilitate prayer, mediation and healing. Vortex sites are believed to be locations having energy flow that exists on multiple dimensions. The energy of the vortexes interacts with a person’s inner self. It is not easily explained. Obviously it must be experienced, I think Penn and Teller could do a piece on this place.

I personally do not buy into those weird energy places although they say weird energy exists on out planets poles and in space. The Vortex, The Mystery Spot and places like this to me are just revenue generating tourist traps. If you do believe or are just plain curious, here's the Travel Channels coverage of the Vortex  also visit The Mystery Spot it is located by Santa Cruise California. Non believers visit this site.
